Born and raised in Holly, Michigan, Elissa Slotkin's passion for public service was instilled in her from an early age. Slotkin's professional journey began with a degree in International Relations from Cornell University, followed by a master's degree in Security Studies from Georgetown University. Equipped with a deep understanding of international affairs and a commitment to public service, she joined the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) where she served for over a decade. During her time at the CIA, Slotkin worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of her fellow Americans, both at home and abroad.

Inspired by her experiences in intelligence and national security, Slotkin decided to transition to a career in public policy. She served in various high-ranking positions in the Department of Defense under both the Obama and Bush administrations.
